I imagine that like me, you are feeling anxious for spring and the return of green leaves and colorful flowers! It won’t be long now, but sometimes I just need a reminder that winter will end and the flowers will return.
Read MoreWe get asked so often whether the farm is open to visitors and sadly the answer is usually no. Because we are such a small team (as in, just 2 of us most days), there is just isn’t time in the average day to properly entertain visitors. That is why I get so excited about our workshops because these are times when we love having visitors at the farm! This year we are hosting 6 workshops for our ‘On the Flower Farm’ workshop series and I’ll be guest teaching at several conferences in Western North Carolina.

I have a massive list of projects to complete before the pace picks up again in March, but there are no flowers to be picked or buckets to be washed. Nothing is urgent and its a feeling that I relish. One of the top priorities in winter is making sure my crop plans are in place, seeds have been ordered and supplies are fully stocked. Ordering seeds early is important to ensure that I get the varieties and quantities needed.
